Welcome to the Talented Visual Arts Website!
This website serves both Buchanan Elementary and the Baton Rouge Center for Visual and Performing Arts. These are the two schools that I, Elizabeth H. Lott, service. The 2009-2010 school year will be my fifth year teaching visual arts in the Talented Arts Program with the EBRPSS. I am pleased to work once again with both faculties and staff and with the talented students sent to me.
Although my Bachelors and Masters degrees are in cello performance, I managed to earn hours comparable to a minor in fine arts as an undergraduate at LSUBR, and was given the opportunity to perform fine art duties for my assistantship at the Yale Graduate School.
“During the time she was studying for her
Masters degree in Music, Elizabeth
produced many posters and other artwork
which was used to publicize the many
musical events that take place in the Yale
community during the year. We were
all struck by her exceptional talent as an
artist as well as by her musical
attributes – which were on display on a
regular basis. I am so pleased that she is
continuing to develop both of her artistic
gifts and I am delighted that by going
into teaching, she will be sharing these gifts
with talented young people.”

During the years following graduate school to the present, I have contributed to the community and elsewhere in various artistic ways when given the opportunity. I have designed various flyers, designed the symbol used for years past for the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe, designed the logo for the Children's Music Studio (Baton Rouge), and helped in the design and implementation of the kiosk installed at the National Conference of the American Symphony Orchestra League and later placed at the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport in the 1980s. Most recently, I have had artwork featured on four CD jackets, three of which I designed myself. I am presently working on a fifth CD jacket design.
At one time I did medical technician work in vital function testing. On occasion I amuse myself with my harmonica playing. I made my debut on this instrument in the Baton Rouge Little Theater's production of Roger Miller’s musical “Big River”.
I have a marvelous son, Simon, who is a professional jazz drummer living in New Orleans. Simon is a product of the EBRPSS and was once enrolled in the Talented Arts Program. He produced his first CD – “In the Parking Lott of Swing” (featuring many of his original compositions) when he was a student at Baton Rouge Magnet High School. To fill the empty nest at home, I have a precious mutt who I love and adore, and she loves and adores me also, despite my constant holiday photography that she rather reluctantly indures.
